Biography
Tim Gartrell was born and raised in Orange in Central Western NSW. While studying politics part-time at the University of NSW he worked as a union advocate and researcher. He then worked as an adviser in the Keating Government then as a Media Manager with South Sydney Council.
He joined the staff of the ALP National Secretariat in 1998. In April 2000 Tim was elected as the Assistant National Secretary of the ALP until he was elected unopposed as National Secretary on 2 September 2003 and again at the 44th National Conference in April 2007. He holds a Masters Degree in Communications Studies.
